Sarah A. Simpson, P.E., President

Sarah Simpson is the President and founding member of United Civil Group. Sarah has over fifteen years of experience in engineering. Sarah has experience in both public service and private consulting that gives her a balanced understanding of each sector. Sarah’s experience from both perspectives lies in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in transportation. Knowledge of the public process enables her to design and manage projects to meet the criteria of public agencies.

Sarah holds in undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering and a Master Degree in Transportation Engineering from Arizona State University. Sarah is currently working towards her doctorate degree from the University of Arizona in Transportation Engineering.

Sarah has extensive experience in traffic engineering that includes: traffic impact studies, small area studies, corridor studies, signal interconnect plans, signal timing, access studies, freeway management studies, signing and pavement marking plans, signal and stop sign warrant analysis, signal plans, street lighting plans, freeway management plans, construction support, traffic data collection, traffic control plans, maintenance of traffic plans, neighborhood traffic calming, and travel time studies.

Michael R. Simpson, P.E., Principal Engineer

Michael Simpson (Mike) is an officer and founding member of United Civil Group with over fifteen years of experience in engineering. During the past fifteen years, Mike has gained knowledge and training in traffic engineering, geotechnical engineering, environmental engineering, and structural engineering. Since graduating from Arizona State University with a B.S. in Civil Engineering, he has emphasized is in the areas of traffic, geotechnical and environmental engineering.

Mike has been a project manager for many sizable engineering projects in his areas of expertise. Presently, Mike is United Civil Group’s project manager for Phoenix Light Rail Line Section Two. This project entails signing and pavement marking, maintenance of traffic and intersection design for Line Section Two. Mike also directly manages United Civil Group’s geotechnical, environmental, and traffic data collection divisions.

Always looking to improve his abilities, Mike has recently completed his M.B.A. from Arizona State University: W.P. Carey School of Business.
